Donations

ShenanArts operates on a budget of $125,000-$140,000 per year, this includes all rent expenses, show
rights, and music rights and set construction costs. Approximately 65% ($90,000) of our income is from
our box office receipts and the remainder ($50,000) must come from generous donations from our
community. Without this generous support we would not be able to produce the amazing programming
that we do.

Our rent and utilities run approximately $70,000 per year. The average musical rights are $4,000-6,000
per show. The average cost of staging the normal musical is $2,000-4,000 per show. The average
straight play rights are $1,500-2,000 per show. The average cost of staging a straight play $1,000-
$2,000. As you can see producing shows is not an inexpensive business.

Many employers offer matching donations for their employers and have foundations from which we can
apply for grants that will support the arts. Please reach out to your employers so the every dollar can be
maximized. We will be glad to complete any applications and/or make any presentation that would be
necessary.
